A study of 2,000 adults found that a total of 26 hours per month is spent dragging the vacuum cleaner around the house and doing household chores such as paying bills or shopping for groceries. But they will only spend 14 hours doing what they really enjoy, like watching movies or going to dinner. That’s a total of one year and two months of fun.

Hakan Cirak, sales manager at SHARP Home Appliances UK, who commissioned the survey to mark the launch of its 2021 home appliance line, said: “Household chores and the administration of life in general take a LOT of time. our free time.

“However, making sure that your life is in order is obviously extremely important, because this foundation allows you to spend the time however you want.

“Our results show that people are always thinking about how best to make the most of their time.”

The study also found that the average adult even spends over 90 minutes a month just thinking about the tasks they have on their to-do list, before they’ve even started doing them.

And for four in ten people, spending so much extra time at home has resulted in an increase in the amount of chores they have to do.

Another 11 percent are even at point where they started to find chores to do around the house just to have some “time for me”.

Cleaning the oven, however, was considered the most hated household chore by the British – followed by cleaning the bathroom, then the windows.

But one in five people admitted that they like to vacuum their floors, while 16% like to wash.

It has also been found that one in three adults devotes a particular day of the week to doing their household chores, rather than tackling them as they go.

It will likely be Saturday, although just under one in ten aim to end a Monday’s misery by cleaning up that day.

The research, conducted through OnePoll, also found that 35% of adults believe that managing life and chores takes up “most” of their time.

And the same number admitted to feeling “overwhelmed” by the amount of dusting, polishing, mopping and sweeping of their homes.

As a result, more than half plan to spend less time on household chores in the future, so that they can spend more time on what they really love.

Hakan Cirak added, “The pandemic has reminded many of us how important our homes are. They are a center of family life and a place to enjoy the best of our lives – it’s not just about keeping them spotless!

“In 2020, we learned how important it is to make a home a home and we hope these new products will take some of the daily stress out of our customers and leave more space to live.”

“The time-saving features of our new line are aimed at bringing a little more balance to their lives and making everyday tasks easier and faster to accomplish.

“Whether it’s a washing machine’s steam cycle that reduces ironing, or hybrid cooling that keeps food fresher longer and reduces trips to stores.
